Hold The Stage Poem by Edwin Hopper

Hold The Stage

Rating: 4.0

No I am not a man to hold the stage.
My brains aren't overly endowed
I daydream quietly and write a page

I do not strut and pantomime or rage.
I contemplate, with my head in a cloud.
No I am not a man to hold the stage.

I suggest how. I have no wars to wage.
I don't rebel, just do what's allowed.
I daydream quietly and write a page.

I can persuade a few more to engage,
to get a new sort of furrow ploughed.
No I am not a man to hold the stage.

I have a few ideas to exchange.
I persuade them all gently, not out loud.
I daydream quietly and write a page.

I suppose some think I'm a wise old sage,
But I know far too much to be too proud.
No I am not a man to hold the stage,
I daydream quietly and write a page.
