Him Poem by minette irsay

Him

Rating: 3.0

Him with the tawny laughing eyes
The boy who always was watching
Him of the dockers and penny loafers
Always just out of sight

Him walking near me but never approaching
The boy who I wish would come talk
Him the comedian lauriat
The guy with the best smile in town

Him smiling at me from the end of the aisle
The man who stole my heart
Him so proud at this moment watching me in my gown
The man who asked me to wed

Him the father of my children
The trembling hands as they hold newborns
Him who smiles at what we have created
The man who made love into life

Him the father of fathers now
The man who still trembles holding an infant
Him who smiles at the family we made
The man who has laughing eyes still

Him growing old alongside me
The man who has kept me safe all these years
Him so proud of my meager accomplishments
The man who has saved me from time

Him watching me fade now
The man who could mend all things cracked
Him so helplessly watching
The one he has loved slip away

Him holding fast to the memory
The ones that bring her close once again
Him sitting still in her favorite chair
The one that smells of their home

This was extremely well constructed and the kind of thing more poets should write but don't. GW62
