Hidden Love Poem by Christian Carbone

Hidden Love

Ice is water
frozen in time
a thief sleeping
in its lifted fluidity

love breaks down
in heat
under wanting

the ship exploring
has no recourse
father & farther
out it glides
floundering
getting closer
landing in exhale
receding in silence
if without warmth

there is a captain’s log
for this heart
penned in grace

so now this liquid love
will turn to face
the freezer door
as it closes
lost in waiting
in winter’s shanty
drunk with fear
