Hidden Gold Poem by Hazel Durham

Hidden Gold

Rating: 5.0

My thoughts are painting
Windswept seascapes,
With the evenings drawing in
As I pull the heavy drapes,
Across your frantic fever,
Lit by your impatient blue eyes, that lures
My love, as I try to please you,
Even with your constant sighs that endures,
Time is like a clockwork of your rigid control,
To capture each day,
Never allowing it to escape and roll,
Along this stretch of Ardmore beach,
Always out of your mind's reach,
A practical song is the music you teach,
Hear my lullaby that squeeze's life,
Like it was a fully ripened peach,
With it's juice dripping down your farmer's hands,
At last you taste freedom so soft and luscious
To lighten your secret load,
Maybe you imagine hearing your favourite rock band,
Playing to help you find that hidden gold,
Across this emptiness of forgiving sand.

The Hidden Gold sometimes holds heartache and pain. I can feel your heart in these words, just like all of your wonderful words.

Now when I reread it with the help of your notes, it is all clear and I must say it is a deep write and I get the picture of a woman who got strangled in the rigid mould, her man set fo her! Thanks!

A Very nice poem Hazel... I could feel what the character in the poem feels.. And that's the beauty... About one thing i am pretty sure.. The one for whom this poem has been written would be least interested in it... Beacuse unfortunately this is the way... Nice work! !

A beautiful poem, well constructed. I see here a woman, sorrowfully, witnessing the love of her life quietly slipping away. Wonderfully expressed with well chosen words.
