Herod The Great Poem by Marton Dezso

Herod The Great

Rating: 2.1

As Herod the Great
King of Judea heard
What the magi from distand land
Said about Israel's new ruler
In his fear to lose his throne
He ordered his soldiers
To kill every infant boy
In Betlehem.

'Break in every home
Slay down each and every newborn
Of those who live in houses
And of those who live in tents'
So the king had spoken to his general.

After being told that his orders
Had been carried out, the great king
(For a puppet he was great indeed
On Roma's hands)
Found his peace after all.
