Hero Poem by Rosa Linger

Hero

Spread the feet, hands on hips
Give a look of dark defiance
Stretch strong arms, mark the dirt
Expose the sword that's from of old.

I'm in need of help right now
I'm just a girl, weak and trembling
I see my hero, solid defense,
Protect me, fight for me tonight.

I stand bare and vulnerable
Head down, i sink ashamed
To the dust from which I came
I've been lowered by the Tempter.

My throat is dry, i've nothing left
Scream for my scratched and bleeding heart
Can you rescue back an unconsenting gift
And yet make it again whole and unscathed?

Rise up, Hero, unfurl your battle flag
For a damsel in distress, hands outstretched
I shudder relieved behind Your broad back
i rest in the shadow of Your shield.

I'm tired of fighting - fight for me
I'm weary of wounds - avenge my blood
I've lost my honor - become my reputation
Sweep me off my feet, my Knight in Shining Armour.
