Her Once Beautiful Life Poem by Jacqueline Dougherty

Her Once Beautiful Life

Her smile is bright,
her eyes tell a story
of a once beautiful life.
Once, long ago,
her days were filled with passion.
Her life had meaning,
it had love.
Now her life drifts
from one dead end to another.
Her once beautiful life
now is constantly consistent.
The love is gone.
Where did it go?
It went out the front door
with the man.
The man who savagely broke her heart
without a care in the world.
Now she's left to scramble for the
microscopic pieces
to a once beautiful life,
or so she thought.
Eight years of marriage
down the drain.
Eight long years,
of an imaginary devotion
and faithless compassion.
Such loyality crumbles love's foundation.
Her foundation is a patch of dirt.
Though her smile is bright,
her eyes tell a story.
A story of pain, betrayal
and lies.
A story of a once beautiful life
full of faithless compassion.
Such a beauty to be in such pain.
Such a beauty....
