Helplessness Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

Helplessness

Rating: 5.0

Are we not sometimes like those powerful ants
Who with Herculean ease carry many times their body weight
And yet when caught in the first seasonal deluge
Is lost in a boundless ocean of helplessness?

All of us are really powerless despite our tall claims. There are no real Herculeses. Your reply to Mr. Manga helped me understand this poem better.

Rajnish Ji, my thoughts were with a dying patient, who despite our Herculean medical advancements, could not be saved. This is the background of the poem. Thanks for reviewing.

The poem presents a very acerbic commentary on human limitations which render us helpless despite being resourceful and physically capable. Thanks for sharing a thought provoking poem.
