Help Me Change Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Help Me Change

Help me o Lord my God to change
My heart and soul within
My selfish mind to rearrange
Apart, to live from sin

My secret thoughts are far from clean
With words I moan and groan
Allow Your love to intervene
And melt this heart of stone

Your loving Son has made me think
How hearts can lead astray
Unless from Heaven's cup we drink
And walk Your chosen Way

Become my Rock Lord, help me stand
Grant wisdom to comprehend
To walk life's Way, hold fast my hand
As would a friend, with friend

In loving You, I've learned to see
My inner man to know
With bible wisdom I agree
Since knowledge began to grow

You made it possible my King
Opening, these once blind eyes
Enabling me this song to sing
To He alone who's wise

You alone gave this desire
To change my wayward path
To live, to rise up higher
To flee eternal wrath

So I'm glad for change, I pleaded
According to Your will
Through obedience, my life's now weeded
Salvation to fulfil…..
