Hello Stranger Poem by Norman F. Santos

Hello Stranger

Rating: 5.0

Hello Stranger,
Are you still on the line?
How long had we been ghosts?
How far had we gone?
In the stretched out expanse,
Impasse the inevitable instance
Have you made yourself fine?
In a one way subway,
Buried in the silver light
Will you still recognize my face?
In a sea of a thousand crowd?
Well, you were never gone
You reek in the air I breathe
In and out, over my grip.
That proverbial enough
Had we fooled ourselves gladly?
Is the familiar longing enough?

Hello Stranger,
Is the mirror too blunt?
Would you watch it shatter out?
Would you let it shatter out?
Desolated in the midst
Of laughs and of grief
Would you hear out my cry?
A somber and familiar cry
Aloof among aloofest
Stares of a sullen mind
Will you watch it die?
With the crumbling city skyline?
When it reveals the lonely man
Would it epitomize your eyes?
Is the dimension sufficient enough?
Captured with a painted bliss
Should the picture slip away?

Hello Stranger,
Did you put off the moon?
To conceal your flight?
To shun one fight?
Would you walk away?
Away from illumination?
In the darkness of the alley
Would you point a finger?
Will it ebb back on you?
How familiar have we become?
In the shape of a quelled sun
Peripheral to where we run
Should I chase you down?
In your unsolicited ground?
If I will be altered?
Would we depreciate?

Hello Strangers,
Is the grass greener?
When you are on the other side?
When I chase you down
Would you lead me down?
Perhaps, to my Great Perhaps
I will endure the rupturing rasp
But will you ever tell me?
The things I assumed to be?
Well, you are rather proverbial
A familiar stranger you are
With the same pragmatic strangeness
That I held futilely in time
As I longed for the path
Where our body will collapse
Sealed with vicarious acquiescence
When we shall intertwine.
