Hell Of A Life Poem by TMA

Hell Of A Life

Rating: 4.0

Never had nothing; all he had was dreams
Of Ferraris’ wheels screeching and diamonds’ gleams
He’ll covet, abet, be an accessory
Achieve his dream by all means necessary
The lies, the threats, the thefts, the kill
Just part of the grime he had to scratch to reveal –

The cars, the houses, the yachts, the pearls;
The money, the power, the glamour, the girls –
Bullet-proof vest; can’t go out at night
Prosecutors with subpoenas and orders to indict
Yeah, he lives one hell of a life…

She had the voice people said would take her far
She made the choice to become a superstar
Producers saying no but she wouldn’t stand defeat
Camped outside their office or in between their sheets
Her heart, her spirit, her dignity at stake;
All shattered; but she got her big break –

An entourage of twenty in her Benz
Stylists and managers and not one friend
The drugs, the pills, performing live
You do what you must do to survive
Yeah, she chose one hell of a life…

As we stare into the looking-glass
At the ghost of a lifetime past
Have rivers of tears made their bed in the foundation
Of the make-up of your life as down they go?
Is your heart within you heavy as lead
Are the eyes, once full of fire, now sparkless and dead?

The seconds, the minutes, the hours, the years…
Betrayals, and heartbreaks, disappointments and tears
Make sure they’re worth it, make sure you’re right
Or the demons of your past will fan tormenting flames with no respite
And you’ll find you’ve lived one hell of a life…
