Heavy. Poem by Minnie Gehrig

Heavy.

Even as i walk zombie like,
through all my tiredness,
as the wind blows its cold caresses across
my rising skin,
my heart sinks to its heavy wetness,
hardened and stone like,
and though I feel like weeping,
and await the rain,
no tears come,
just waves and waves of
stinging and stubborn pains,
the kind that do not like to go away,
and in fact devour you with every ticking second.
