Heaven & Hell Poem by Deepa Kochhar

Heaven & Hell

sometime in life at 70 or at 11
one does dream of heaven
how will the heaven be
what all there will be to see
will there be only laughter and rain
can there be a place without pain
and hell hows it there
misery in the air?
but no one has seen to tell
be it heaven or hell
it seemed absurd
my question unanswered
then in the morning one day
I saw the sky bright and gay
The sun was about to come out
It was choosing its route
Red streaks in and around
The beauty held me spell bound
The rays made a spactacu, lar turn
The beauty made my stomach churn
My mind went totally blank
I Started to the almighty thank
The birds that flew by
Different hues like a raikbow in the sky
their chirpy sounds would tell
like the ringing of temple bells
I could experience bliss
Heaven is this, heaven is this
Next day of tsaunami I heard
Destruction of man animal and bird
The clips I saw left me numb
I thought of the Hiroshima atom bomb
Death and destruction all over
Some dead some lost and some under cover
From the scene chaos and death I could tell
This is hell this is hell
In a second I got my answer
Both heaven and hell are here
