Heat Poem by James Workman

Heat

Rating: 3.0

My heart is not made from sinew or tissue
It is an engine of iron
It is not fueled by blood
But by an immense hearth
Heated by the flames of passion
Stoked by coal
Pressed over years
Into shapes of the ones I love
Underneath that hearth
Deep within that coal
Yours is the ember
That burns hottest
