Heartwreck Poem by Idris Adesina

Heartwreck

If you can not direct the wind, then adjust the sail.
The sea of passion rises above shore
And he sees not the wind's claws
Until it marched away his ship
Loosed it from his route and troop.
A heart is the ship and sailor
And a Spirit acts the traitor
All in the shipboard of heart
They travel large at sight
As the shore stays upright still
Like a frozen man in Hamilton.

Nights and days all alone
He sings and hears the forlorn tone
Sang by two before the Parable
He cries alone like a rhyme fable:
'My own pen has slaughtered me!
Brought the winds doom upon me!
Made me West and my Spirit East
And between us memories sit
Best friends now more strangers!
As best foes fit haters! '

He treats his now with the past
Cos he looks back and not the fact.

Again the wind brings him
And back he comes with hymn
'hold any note do you, oh Saint? '
No gold on rehab, oh kid!
'and not a note from Cupid? '
Love? Oh! I read that too,
my old testament for true
one even two or three
Even the last Favour too.

Now the shipboard is not the same
And the memories, gone as came
'What way did you let it lay
The spirit, memories and her stay? '
Well, I did your bid while on ship
That to treat the Spirit like a sheep.
And as you say my dear friend
'Move on
If you can not direct the wind, then adjust the sail.
