Heartless Man Poem by Chinonso Uche

Heartless Man

Rating: 3.5

A heartless man's soul
Belongs to the devil.
He traded it for a cigar.
He now has no soul.

He does not see
He does not feel
He does not care
He does not fear

He goes around empty.
And laughs like a 'jig-saw'
Nothing sinks in him
'cause he has no him

He treats mum like her
And treats her like mum
Since he has no soul,
He does not know this

Shame has vanished
For there is no substance
He says everything
And he thinks nothing.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Dedicated to 11th April,2013.
Inspired by Henry's disappointment.
Henry Odii was supposed to give me N6,500 yesterday. He shifted our meeting today and said he would see in the morning of today. At 12pm, I started calling him but he ain't picking. I called him up to about 30 missed calls before he finally answered and said he's in his home town that when he comes to Awka, he will see me and give me the money. I waited for him from that time till 6pm no sign of him, nor his call. As I was pondering on the kind of deceit, knowing how explanation I had made to help Henry understand why I need the money; my money, I got the inspiration to write this.
Thank you

I must confess here that Dorothy Parker's style of writing has something to do with the writing of mine, which I can faithfully say is the most professional of all my writings here in poemhunter.com
