Heartbeat Poem by Jessel Jane Tevar Toring

Heartbeat

Rating: 2.8

Empty, dull, lifeless.
I heard my heartbeat through your footsteps
thumping loudly into life
as you get closer and closer.
But that was not the end of it
as that was not the start...
my heartbeat's dying
as you walked away farther and farther.
And when you're gone,
there was a beat no more.
And that was the end of it,
as it was from the start...
empty, dull, lifeless.
