I thought I'd been broken
I thought I knew pain
Words easy spoken
Before I went insane

Love for me had died
With anger and disgrace
I had to decide
My heart was lace

My love had been tested
I had but one fate
My soul never rested
And took your bate

Your kiss so soft
I felt so free
High in that loft
Finally again just me

I warned you away
From the heart I lack
Since the pain of that day
I just want you back

I say what I mean
And meant what I said
If you could have seen
My heart is dead

Don't break yourself
Like I broke me
I love yous on a shelf
With only a memory
