Healing (Tanka-5-7-5-7-7 Format)

learned this lesson well
perfection's an illusion
none ever had it
the release is forgiveness
the best healing balm for all.

@Douglas Scotney - thank you for the comment. What happens to you when you forgive? Does it not release the heaviness in your heart? Does it not give you relief and freedom (at last) from the emotional baggage that is rotting the very core of your being a human being capable of loving again? No human being is perfect, all of us make mistakes and that is why forgiveness needs to be given. Forgiveness is setting another person free - canceling the offense and taking off the hurt or anger from one's heart. Because we are all humans and because it is for our own good that we forgive. That is why it is a healing balm. Good for our health. Ask the doctors.

Forgiveness is balm, Cynthia, once I've learnt the lesson, but what is it that teaches me the lesson? If perfection doesn't exist I am very hurt, but how is it that forgiveness can be the balm? What is it about illusion that makes forgiveness the balm?
