Hard Life Poem by Shelby Smith

Hard Life

What a hard life
Two wives
Both killed by cancer
Two daughters
Both killed by birth disease

What a hard life, you see
Heart problems, stress,
Depression and grief
All one man
All one life

Now is coming to an end

No one knows how long he will last
So we pray really fast

Two days until Christmas
And only his daughter follows
From hospital to hospital
Like playing hopscotch in pain

As his friends and family
We all suffer
Can we all have a moment of silents
A quick moment of prayer
To remember him
Through the pain and the tears
We pray

Lord,

Can we keep him for just a little while longer? He has suffered so much but we need just a little bit more. Long enough for someone to see him, one last time, me. Some one who loves him and care about him. Oh, God let him just last through the night. Lord I thank you for all of the times we've had together. And if it be your will please take him. Just let him know I love him.

Amen.
