Hard Knocks Life Poem by Susan Wall

Hard Knocks Life

Rating: 3.5

Life as a child was one that most
in today’s world could relate.
I do not want to create a poem
that is feeling sorry for me.
Losses in one‘s life as a young girl
do make a person unique
in many ways.
As the art that the artist creates
is his own master piece.
I have known many that their soul
is as cold as a lake covered with ice.
The hardships that they came through
well were beyond what
one should have to face.
The school of hard knocks
yes it lives true to its harsh name.
There are some that the hard knocks
knocked them through a loop of no end
of seeing their future dreams come true.
Please don’t judge you have no idea
the heartache one has lived.
This makes my skin shiver as a cold child
to think a person will judge a soul
that had lived the life of hard knocks.
Hands on the clock measure more than time
It shows the pain that lingers in one’s mind.
So when you find time to judge
bow your head, and pray for that unique lost soul.
