Harbour Of Life Poem by Nitin Suresh

Harbour Of Life

She sat in the best of black finery,
Puckered face emotionless trembling
her best half had passed away in the night
silently amidst the darkness of a unrelenting rain

leaving behind the trail of half done memories.
her youth, the best of years devoted
like an offering in a quite little temple
to the man who lay in the coffin besides her,

Their love was hard bake in the sunshine
Until they found harmony amidst their roller coaster
Their warmth in the togetherness and joy
Of making simple things for their wonderful world

the pain of the fights & laughter of success
The joy of new abode and the decades that shone
The tender touch of their child and first steps it took
To the youth who left the abode to fly alone

As the shadows of time grew longer
Wrinkles got hold of their bodies and minds
Loneliness in the the end of their journey together
On this evening to bid farewell in the harbour of life
