Happy Things Poem by Juan Olivarez

Happy Things

Rating: 5.0

Happy things, like wedding rings,
Or lazy fluffy clouds.
Happy things, that living brings,
Softly, gently, never loud.

A new born babe, a tiny thing,
Kittens with their arching backs.
A hug from an old and treasured friend,
Bucks showing off ten point racks.

Puppy kisses, that puppy smell,
Rollie Pollies under stones.
A drink of water from a well,
The heat of summer, and ice cream cones.

Hot dogs cooking on burning leaves,
Twinkling stars in the night sky.
Watching the Orb Spider as it weaves,
Ice cold milk, and lemon pie.

The first cold front of the year,
Indian Summer, and shedding trees.
Autumn nights so cool and clear,
A hint of winter on the breeze.

These things to me are happy things,
The clouds, the stars, the trees.
Watching the Mockingbird as it sings,
The new born Autumn's initial breeze.
