Happy Birthday To One So Dear Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Happy Birthday To One So Dear

Rating: 5.0

For your birthday I pondered what to do,
What lovely gift would be perfect for you'

Should I send you a clown to make you smile,
Doing silly tricks and cart wheels in every style?

Should I spend hours, baking you a birthday cake?
Oh no!
That might just give you a stomach ache!

I thought about dance lessons for the rumba, cha cha,
Slow drag or cutting the rug, doing the swinging jitter bug,

Again I wondered, would the next gift on my list cost too much?
Perhaps I could take you on a trip around the world,
With all expenses paid by me your special girl.

But, they probably would not accept monopoly money so
I put that thought right out of my head,
No roller coaster rides or horse back riding or mountain climbing
You would surely dread.

So my dear, instead of all the above,
I send you these roses and a heart filled with love.

Birthdays come and go, as do summer smiles, April rains, the Colors fall brings, and winter snow but my love,

Always remember my wishes that your special day be happy,
Are forever more!

What can be a better gift on 'Happy Birthday To One So Dear' than expressed in the following lines. Big or costly gifts cannot compete with such flowery gifts. So my dear, instead of all the above, I send you these roses and a heart filled with love.
