Happy Poem by Jennifer Sollmann

Happy

You were happy.
You’re never happy.
My heart skipped a beat.
That’s the way I liked you,
Happy.
It’s just an act though.
Or, that’s what you say.
How can I know for sure?
Would you be that way for me,
Again?
I doubt it.
I can tell you’d just go back to your sad self.
Go back to being mean.
But my heart fluttered with hope last night,
Because you were happy.
I can’t let it get to me.
You wouldn’t stay that way.
You were happy.
You’re never happy.
