Happiness: The Universal Quest Poem by Sherayne Rego

Happiness: The Universal Quest

Rating: 3.0

Happiness, the feeling of immense pleasure
The absence of stress and fear.
It doesn't come easy, that blissful feeling
But when it does, it's always a soulful healing.

I was happy, floating on cloud nine. Thinking to myself,
' Everything is going to work just fine! '
And one fine day, I realize I'm all alone
Wondering where all the happiness has gone.

'Don't let them control your emotions', she said
In a soft voice as she tucked me into bed;
She told me that I was a fighter,
And soon I'd see that things would be brighter.

From that day on, she never left me alone
With my head held high, she made me stand on my own
She told me ' Take chances, make mistakes.
But never let yourself break'

Then I realized, life was never gonna be easy
People out there would hurt me
Either I could let it affect me or not
The choice was mine
I chose the latter, and here I am
Living the good life, on cloud nine!
