Hannele Cox Poem by Luke Easter

Hannele Cox

Rating: 5.0

That battle with a rare and virulent flesh eating disease,
Is trying to destroy the right hand of 13 year-old Hannele,
Cleaning out the family fish tank contracting, “granuloma, ”
Transmitting the devastating energy effects of a Supernova.

So now 5 years later this bacteria has become drug resistant,
A super strain deadly as a cancerous tumor that’s malignant,
No help from doctors in sunny California caused her to seek,
Help in the mile high Colorado Rockies at Denver this week.

June 22 is the second day of summer and she should begin,
Life on the beach swimming, playing volleyball with friends,
However, as this monster is selfishly eating away at her bones,
The National Jewish Health Center is now her temporary home.

Two surgical procedures at Loma Linda Medical Center & UCLA,
Along with multiple antibiotic treatments didn’t make it go away,
No more fun loving horseback riding as debilitating is the word,
“I’m afraid they’ll mess it up again” are her weary, anxious words.

Saying, “I can’t use the right hand at all, I’m in pain all the time, ”
And if nothing is found to combat, amputation is the bottom line,
“I’ll go through something I didn’t have to” treatments in the past,
Okay, it’s time for all prayer warriors to unite with Amos 3: 3, fast.

The Old Testament, Book of Numbers 20: 11, as if there were hoses,
Dearest Lord guide the scalpel like the staff of your servant Moses,
Surgeons will implant antibiotic beads in the hand of Hannele Cox,
Pray for God’s intervention like when water gushed from the rock.
