Half-Truth Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Half-Truth

Half-truth

He knew, was aware
Easily could foresee.

So he lied
He told them half-truth
Not fear or of need
But greed.

Egyptians respected a married.

Egyptians from Pharaoh to soldiers
Sought angels, good looking,
Single girls, the nicest.

Abduction in Bible is a game
Well-planned; manufactured
Based on his half-truth:
“She is sister…”
And not wife?

The outcome?

Overstretched
Barren She, came Hagar.

Stepson, fight of sons
Jealousy and blood
Tooth for tooth, eye for eye.

Curtains down and nails bent
We now see
Millenniums…mountains, hills and still…

With that lie
We have paid high price.

Look at Jets
The US made fighters
And bombings in Turkey
Part of game
With the Kurds and ISIS.
