Haiku Calendar Poem by Madathil Rajendran Nair

Haiku Calendar

Rating: 5.0

January arrives
Winter sun with golden rays
Scribbles greeting cards

Maid February
Takes out little kids to play
Group of golden clouds

Mountain fires aglow
March awake worried about
Coming summer heat

Sun is April smith
Melts gold and shapes ornaments
For seasons to wear

Lonely rain bird sings
Summer clouds pour at midnight
With May fireworks grand

South-west monsoon clouds
Scurry fast across the sky
June listens for rain

It rains a deluge
Frogs play night-long orchestra
July fast asleep

Rain takes holiday
It is Independence Day
August's tricolor

Flower processions
Colour September landscape
Harvest festival

October thunders
Evening downpours deluge
North-East Monsoon in

November star kids
Peep from under a blanket
Chilly new moon night

Venus leads the stars
Carols along zodiac
December choir

Of this calendar, I enjoyed more March, June and July. These haikus have truly captured the quintessence of all months in the Indian climatic context! Great!
