Haiku Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Haiku

Haiku
- - - - - - - -
It was winter;
Not only green, shiny leaves
Bereft of summer
Also accosting my heart of love
Is grim winter
Leaving it lonely and emptier
A frozen sky, a frozen heart
Upon the path I tread and loiter
Startled at the heaps of snow
Scattered on the street everywhere
And I could see snowflakes
Falling to ground from Angel’s sphere
And so graceful they were
I wished my love to me be fair
And recalled letters written to love
In days so classy and happier
Still in my heart treasured all the letters
Of late a leaf newly clipped
From the mosaic of love livelier
But now my letters are like blossoms pale
Of what use they are, I wonder
For they contain more lines sequential
Which have failed to appeal her
And of late I come to know equations
That she loves things like haiku, like flake
And only 'I love you' suffices and pleases her
That has been missing from my letter so far...........
