Had To Get Away* Poem by ice johnson

Had To Get Away*

I looked at him
when he didn't look
He looked at me when I laughed
We finally met eyes
Right in front of us
Memories scattered our eyes
We did our best to avoid what we knew

Too much already I walked out
I had to save this energy
I grabbed my keys and drove off

In my rear view I saw you run out for me
I had to avoid this
I had to get away

So you decided to ride along
Maybe you forgot what you've done
Maybe you forgot what you said and how you said it

I jumped out leaving my car into a hurtful fall
I ran away into no where as long as you would never find me
Last thing I need to see is your face

I rented a room to hide
Next thing I knew you came in looking for me
I locked the door.
My scent, you knew.
You bang my door, but I climbed out the glass and ran again
Had to get away from you.

Before I knew it, you were running after me.
I ran into the desert, ran away, FAR.
Still you wouldn't stop.
Eventually, tears caught up with you.
You tripped me and caught me in your arms

A struggle it was to get away. You promised to never hurt me again.
Locking the car, I re-opened.
Out I ran. You still chasing me. A fool you were.
