Guiding Principles Poem by Tirupathi Chandrupatla

Guiding Principles

Inner thoughts
Guide us
They precisely define
Our personalities.

Social and safety
Economic and religious
Principles define
Expected behaviour.

Sometimes it happens
Inner guidance
Conflicts with
Behaviour expected.

On an open road
Inner feeling says
Exceed the limit
It’s better not to.

If inner feeling’s
To stick to the truth
Beg to differ from
A committee or group.

Be always guided by
Your inner feelings
But always learn also
What’s expected of you.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I had written several lines of this poem sometime back. Our popular poet friend Abdul Wahab’s poem “Two Reasons” gave me an answer to some questions that I had. I wish to express my thanks to dear friend Abdul Wahab.
