Guard Yourself By Heart Against Every Dark Thought Of Stealing! Poem by Dr.V.K. Kanniappan

Guard Yourself By Heart Against Every Dark Thought Of Stealing!

O' Lord Somesa! (Lord Shiva in Kulathur) ,
The sacred saint, the son of Kaadhi is defamed
By the people in this world since he had stolen
The meat of the dog's tail! - the truth said so out of it is
That ‘Guard yourself by heart against every dark thought
Of stealing lest you should be made scornful by the world!

Note:

Sacred and hungry saint, Viswamithra, Son of Kaathi, waking up from the penance of long duration, stole and tried to eat the tail portion of the meat of a dog kept in the hut of a hunter. But as the hunter came and noticed, the saint requested to forgive him for his behavior.
