Grow Up Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Grow Up

Rating: 4.0

I was living before where i'm at
better a past than the present
trying to shake loose from that
Forget the good times, we have left that behind
lately the skies have been looking so gray
I would have faith there'd be better days
if you want to go, baby, make your move
there's a pain no medicine can soothe

I could be yours but i'm not going
despite your reservations
get angry if you want
this trip comes with complications
no temptation is enough to keep a good thing
if it means that much keep a picture in the frame

You won't grow up
Done with the chase oh yeah
You've really spun out of control
I don't feel safe anymore
I was completely blindsided
How long would you try to hide it?
You thought that this be forever
You know that I know that this won't get better

it's gotten real bad i don't want to
keep being dragged through flames
Challenges had me grow complacent
Now no longer in a trance
closing of the curtain
signaled a ending of this dance
clock would strike at nine
keep your sorries, i'll be fine
if it were a message on a card
it still wouldn't touch my heart
what you say don't matter
i'm finished with this chapter

When you start crying
It's almost like dying
When you start crying
it's Perfect timing
