Greet The New Day! Poem by Valsa George

In the Eastern sky spreads an orange tint
The many armed deity parts the shroud of mist
Awakening the drowsy, dreaming Earth
Inviting all to start the New Year in zest

On a world that for hours in darkness lay
Creeps forth the first efflorescence of light
Beams of sun light percolate through the leaves
And all that has been hidden comes into sight

In the low lying lands, it is still quite dark
But over the hill, early dawn is bright
In this serene silence, audible is every faint sound
The early hours fill us with music's sweet delight

The orange shade has brightened into crimson glow
Dazzling the wobbly pearls of silvery dew
Flowers smile permeating sweet aroma
They array in marvelous shapes and hue

We are reborn fresh after each night's balmy rest
How the golden sun beams dance over the eyes
Let us welcome this first dawn of the year
A fresh canvas to paint life in flashing hues

Each morn glides down with promises new
Each day holds for us experiences diverse
Though from sunrise to sunset, brief be its span
The sum total of the days makes up life's course

A new light is flashed across the face of the Earth
Promising a year ahead of joy and strife
Let us roll up our sleeves and get ready for the combat
Pledging ourselves to reap the harvest of life

The whole year may not be sunny as it looks to be
Sometimes we might stumble and fall
But do not hesitate, do not pause for long
Onward and onward, let us march to our goal

Each new day is a bounteous gift from God
Greet the new dawn with its glimmering light
Make a perfect start, as the New Year is born
Perhaps we may not have another year so bright!

Hurray! Welcome the new day, singing and dancing
2014 has fled giving us a mixed bag of joy and pain
Let us forget all rivalries and be linked as a band
And toil relentless for a happy tomorrow full of gain!

The old year has bundled up and a New Year has born! On this
ceremonious day, I wish all my friends on poem hunter loads of
blessings, days and months of cheerful anticipation, wish fulfillment
and all that is sweet and desirable in life…..!
