Green Snake - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Green Snake - Lincoln Park Zoo

Rating: 5.0

Happy St. Paddy's Day to you.
Tiz a day I be wearing green,
As I wear ev'ry day, I do.
For a green snake - no color change 'tween.
At Lincoln Park Zoo, I hang out,
To remind the visitors that
Green snakes like to slither about
Illinois prairie habitat.
So c'mon over and say hi.
Look close cuz I am a wee folk.
I can't wave back - no hands are why.
I'll give you a high fang - no joke!

Drove snakes from Ireland - St Paddy?
In Illinois, hope safe I'll be.

Thank you, Ima Ryma, for such a nice poem to remind us the need for conservation of natural habitat not only for those lovely green snakes but for all other species too, which are not at ease due to lack of concern by man. Long live Lincoln Park Zoo.
