Gravity! Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

Gravity!

Take away this string of stability
Then its grab and have mobility
To fly like birds far up there
I will harbor no fear
Gravity is my constrain
It forces me to contain
Why am I enmeshed in this attraction
Oh dear me! I seek for a subtraction
Do not ask me 'why? '
I just want to go up very high
To be free and weightless
Wherever I go is regardless
Can I get a device like scissors
May be I can cut with me incisors
But this drag is so thin
It can never be dumped in a dustbin
What do I do with nature
It perpetually hold me in this capture
Gravity moves as the magnet
Blanketing the earth as its dragnet
Am I as helpless
Even more than that, I am hopeless!

(This is poem is dedicated to Jenni Carter. Her poem titled 'Gravity' inspired this poem of mine, 'Gravity! ')
