Grasping At Fantasies Poem by Kaysen Fraker

Grasping At Fantasies

I reach out
try to grab
something that isn't there
something that will never be there

When I close my hand, I find only air
I want so much more
I want what my heart desires
I want I reached for

Sadly
what I reached for
no one can take hold of
not even the ones that want it most

I reach for her
stretch until my shoulder hurts
but I realized
she's only a fantasy

A fantasy
my fantasy
my dream
my dreams never come true.
