Granted Poem by Carla Kitts

Granted

your wish is granted, I'm now gone
it is time for me to say so long
you slahed my heart and broke it in two, I hope my absence bring happiness to you
I once called you my sister, but your not even my friend
you hurt me badly and my mother didn't even offer to defend
i've always been different from you
and from them, even my own brother who has the same color of skin, but now I am through
it is not from lack of sleep
that causes my brown eyes to weep
you've said you're wish one to many times
I hope I have explained myself through my series of simple rhymes
you say you have to love me because I'm family
but I don't want you to love me if you don't even like me
I'm sorry I'm leaving
I'm sorry my actions and words to you aren't pleasing
but I can no longer stay
when you continously voice that you wish that I would go away
I won't run, I'll simply walk
I won't pester you with my presence, or my childish desire to simply just talk
from now on things will go how you want, you'll be the queen bee
and I pray you won't miss or think of sarcastic, mean little old me
I'm doing this for you, I hope mom will smile more
after I walk through that door
all I want is for my family to be happy
and it seems that will only happen without me
