Grandpa's Love Poem by Richard Netherland Cook

Grandpa's Love

As evening comes upon me,
And darkness settles in,
I head off to my easy chair,
Where I doze off now and then.

Then the voice of children,
Comes sounding in my ear,
'Hi Grandpa''
Are two words I love to hear.

They fill my heart with gladness,
As everyone can see,
My love is overflowing,
For my Katelyn and Kaysi.

Yes, I have placed my arms around them,
And in my heart I hold them fast,
Never can I lose them,
For my love will everlast.

Someday they may pause and thinking back,
Their memories might bring to light,
Something I may have taught them,
May make each life more rich and bright.

In heart and mind they will always be,
No matter where they may roam,
And I will long to hear these words,
'Hi Grandpa, we're home.
