Goodbye: The Hardest Word Poem by Theresa Potts

I haven't seen you for so long
and now you have to say 'so long! '
'Sayonara' as you say;
'Goodbye' as I would say.
It feels so wrong to use such words
and now time has flown like a flock of birds!
A month is not long enough
and saying goodbye is always tough.
I am glad we could do so many things-
like sitting around talking on the swings;
and sharing our thoughts beneath the night sky,
and not having to ask each other 'why? '
Swimming, eating, talking, and sleeping-
I hope you enjoyed the whole time camping!
It has been so much fun
just hanging out in the sun.
'Kanashii' is the way I felt;
'Sad' is the feeling I felt,
when I heard you say
that lonely word one day.
