What is this they say
That someone has died?
Who has ruined this day
By losing their life?

I'm afraid I heard wrong
No, that cannot be right.
Not you who sings songs
And laughs with such might.

I refuse to believe
That it is you they discuss
And I refuse now to grieve
Or make such a fuss.

There is no way that you
Who is so full of life
Could have left us, too
No, that cannot be right

And now the tears come
As I realize its true
