Going Camping

Rating: 5.0

Camping is the greatest thing
a family can do.
All of that togetherness
MUST be good for you.

But chances are it'll be too hot,
or rain will spoil the day
and what was dust will turn to mud
in which the kids will play.

The biting flies will fill the skies,
mosquitoes make you sore,
but never fear, because next year
we'll be right back for more!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem a few years ago, and do not have a written copy of it at my present location.I have written as much as I can remember, but I think there may have been one or two more verses in the original.
If I ever find the original (and it is different)I will revise this version.

My gawd, Kim Is it possible I have found a poet that writes poetry that rhymes? Just got here a few days ago and the search is under way. Free verse turns me off as I consider it rhetoric and not poetry at all. Just my opinion but I am stuck with it. I really enjoyed this verse. Moves nicely and a pleasure to read. You get a 10 mostly because it is such a relief to find what to me is valid poetry... As Benny Hill would say? Whose the Clever Boy?
