Goddess Poem by Katniss Everdeen

Goddess

Goddess, are you up there?
Are you listening to me?
I ask that you listen
And hear my only plea

Goddess, are you up there?
Can you hear my silent cries?
My 'friends' want me to do these 'things'
And they want me to lie

Goddess, are you up there?
Tell me what to do
I want to be popular
Please give me a clue

Goddess, are you up there?
Shall I do these things
Because, if I annoy these girls,
They are sure to sting

Yes, child I am up here
And I am listening to you
But in order for you to do the right thing
I can't tell you what to do

You have to learn from mistakes
I cannot help you out
You have to get yourself out of this
Oh, child do not pout

You have to choose your own path
My greatest gift is free will
So people can choose whether to do right or wrong
Life is a rollercoaster, and taking chances is the thrill
