Give A Lift Poem by Curtis Johnson

Give A Lift

Give A Lift
By Curtis Johnson

So you are aware of a need
Are you prepared for the deed?

So you want to reach out and help
Are you prepared to go the depth

So you want to do all you can
But do you have any kind of plan?

To help someone in need is more than a notion
And it requires more than a tear drop of emotion
It helps to say a little prayer, and have lots of devotion

There’s a hungry person simply trying to live
But your pockets reveal you have nothing to give

He stands there, hot and tired, cold and hungry
He has a cardboard sign, constantly looking out
It’s not our job to decide if he’s looking for handouts
He needs a little help, a little hope, a little hand up

All she wanted was just a little change,
Just a little love to relieve her pain
