Ghosts Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

Ghosts

the sun hides ghosts from our eyes
freeing them to walk naked
swallowing their shadow
in a cloak of light
robbing us of our fear
dispelling our myths
and consoling our hearts
our lack of vision

darkness hides ghosts from our eyes
wrapping them in a blanket of darkness
occasionally revealing their shadows
in our presence
magnifying our fears
confirming our myths
and frightening our souls
our lack of faith

the sun hides ghosts from our eyes
unchaining them from their post
allowing them to roam free
in a beam of light
breaking our fear
propelling our trust
and comforting our hearts
our poor vision
