Germinating Poem by Bharati Nayak

Germinating

Rating: 4.8

How many years was I sleeping?
One thousand or one million?
Under layers of ice I was sleeping
Closed, closed deep
Amid darkness
In deep slumber was I.

One day I woke up
With raised head
I opened my window
To see
Layers of ice have melted
Sun is welcoming me
With open arms
A new world, open sky and million stars.
The air lovely
Colors abound
Green fields, blooming flowers.
I felt a touch of heavenly hands.
I breathed
I danced
I rejoiced
I mingled
And melted
In the sun beams
As I become
A dot of color
On the petal
Of a flower.
