Geometry Lesson Poem by John Buquoi

Geometry Lesson

the great surprise of getting old
and knowing now that older age
had finally come was, he thought,
that he was on one day still young
and on the next passed into old,
a surprising demonstration,
of euclid's line defined as but
a length measured without width as
the line between his yesterday
youth then and now today's old age
clearly lacked any breadth at all
beyond its own reality
