Gentle Showers Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Gentle Showers

Thank Heaven there is rain today
To wash the grime and dust away,
And freshen all the fields and leas
beautifying plants and trees.

Without the rain each flower would die.
There'd be no rainbow in the sky!
Nature would soon be parched and brown
With dreadful odours in every town.

Birds no longer would sing their song
Oh, glorious rain cannot be wrong...
For the country shines each autumn day
When gentle showers come our way.
