Generous Poverty Poem by Suu Casey Young

Generous Poverty

Generous Poverty -
rebellion of the spirit
against selfishness and greed.
Every selfless donation
replacing the thinning blanket of material security
with a tightly woven spiritual cloak
of right and wrong.
Generous poverty -
Acknowledging mans equality
comes from the shared miracle of life,
not differing lifestyles.
Personal hardship and challenge
are not the cost of generosity,
but the unrequested reward of
Life’s poverty.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
